Bombay High court has acquitted Bollywood Superstar Salman Khan of all charges in 2002 hit-and-run case. The court in its judgement said that prosecution failed to establish its case beyond a reasonable doubt.
Court’s verdict is indeed a great news for Salman and his millions of well wishers. It is not very common in India, when a person gets acquitted just seven months after his conviction.
The accident that killed one person and injured four others after Khan’s land cruiser ran over a pavement in suburban Bandra in early hours of September 28, has haunted him for over 13 years and may even haunt further, if prosecution challenges Bombay high court verdict in the Supreme Court.
But there is a pertinent question that arises here.
Was it a mere co-incidence that the unfortunate accident took place on the same day when Aishwarya had accused Khan of cheating on her and physically abusing her ?
On the morning of September 27, 2002, Times of India carried an interview of Aishwarya Rai in which she opened the bolt off her relationship and alleged that Salman was cheating on her.
"Salman and I broke up last March, but he isn't able to come to terms with it," TOI has quoted Rai as saying.
In the article, Rai revealed that she broke up with Khan only when he indirectly confessed to cheating on her.
She had also alleged that Khan suspected her of having affairs with her co-stars Abhishek and Shah Rukh Khan and even physically abused her
“There were times when Khan had got physical with her but luckily without leaving any marks,” Rai had said.
She had also held Khan responsible for her ouster from Aziz Mirza’s Chalte Chalte , the role which later went to Rani Mukherjee.
Media reports also say Salman was very upset after reading the interview.
On previous occasion also Khan allegedly smashed a bottle of cold drink on his then girlfriend Somy Ali’s head while the pair was out with friends.
