The IPL players' draft for two new teams New Rising Pune and Intex Rajkot will be held tomorrow (Tuesday) December 15 at Mumbai Cricket Association’s recreation center at the Bandra Kurla Complex. Players like India’s limited over captain MS Dhoni, along with his teammate Ravindra Jadeja, Ajinkya Rahane, Suresh Raina and Ravichandran Ashwin will be up for the grabs.
On December 8 Sanjeev Goenka’s New Rising won the bid for Pune for 16 crore while mobile company Intex won the bid for 10 crore after a reverse bidding process held in Delhi.
BCCI called the bids as Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Rajasthan Royals were banned for two years from Indian Premier League. BCCI was forced tender for two new teams after broadcaster and owners of the teams cited that they suffer a huge financial loss if eight teams do not play the 2016 and 2017 IPL. Both franchises will back in the IPL after serving two years bane.
Among the top international cricketers Brendon McCullum, Shane Watson, Steve Smith, Dwayne Bravo, Faf du Plessis, James Faulkner are among the 50 players will up for the garb in the draft.
Pune will get the right to choice to pick the players first because they were the lowest bidder (negative bids) to buy the new team for two years in the draft.
Both new teams will have a minimum of Rs 40 core and a maximum of Rs 66 crore to buy players.
The trading window will also start on December 15 and ends on December 31.
As per the tender for the two new teams, the first capped player would be paid 12.5 crore while the remaining four capped players are to get Rs 9.5 crore, Rs 7.5 crore, Rs 5.5 crore, and Rs 4 crore respectively. Uncapped players can be picked for a stipulated fee of Rs 4 crore.
The ninth edition of the IPL is scheduled from April 9 to May 29, 2016.
