Masters Champions League (MCL) is a Twenty20 cricket league. The tournament will be made up of six teams in its first year, with a total of 90 players taking part - 15 members per squad. The players must all have been former international cricketers who are now retired from all forms of the professional sport. The MCL has received a 10-year approval from the Emirates Cricket Board, and inaugural matches of the tournament will take place over two weeks in Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah.

History of MLC:
League's first edition is scheduled to play between 28 January and 14 February 2016. CEO Zarah Shah announced the first team of MCL named 'Libra Legends'. She also named Sourav Ganguly as the icon player in the team.
Formed by Zafar Shah, Chairman of GM Sports, MCL is a league for retired cricketers some of whom have never played the Twenty20 format. MCL was launched in Dubai on June 3, 2015.
MCL has generated support in the UAE, including the official approval from the Emirates Cricket Board. The company operates under the umbrella of the Grand Midwest Group and is a promoter of sports activities in the region. GM Sports will also allow legendary cricketers to assist former teammates and comrades who face financial distress in retirement

As the chairman of GM Sports, he is one of the founders of Masters Champions League.

Sam Khan, born as Shauzab Khan, is an Indian businessman and Bollywood film director based in Mumbai. Khan has helped establish the MCL team. He is currently the Chief Executive Director of MCL and has helped to conceive the concept of the league.
