Indian Premier League (IPL) players’ draft will be held in Mumbai Cricket Associations' clubhouse in the Bandra –Kurla Complex on December 15. The two new IPL teams Pune and Rajkot will pick 10 players of their choice.
“The draft pick is to be held at the BKC clubhouse starting at 12:15 pm on the 15th,” a top BCCI source said.
Sanjeev Goenka’s New Rising Pune will get the first opportunity to pick the players because they were the lowest bidders (negative bids) to buy the new team for two years. There is a rumour that MS Dhoni will be picked up by Pune for record 12.5 crore.
On December 8 Sanjeev Goenka and Intext won the bids for and Rajkot respectively.
Goenka’s company will shell out Rs 16 crores while Intex will pay Rs 10 crores to the BCCI.
BCCI had to call for two new teams after Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Rajasthan Royals (RR) suspended for two years as their team officials and co-owner found guilty for spot-fixing. The investigation was conducted by the Supreme Court-appointed Justice (retired) RM Lodha committee.
Both Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals will back in the action after serving two years of suspension.
